In depth

Verdict

Gay Kelleway's Lady Morganna probably has the best form among those to have raced previously having shown promise in both starts so far at Newmarket and Yarmouth but there are some interesting newcomers in this event and the race may go to one of them with AVALON BAY preferred to Striking Priorite. Roger Charlton's gelding takes the eye on pedigree being by Striking Ambition out of a Kenmare mare and any market support for him would be of interest from a stable in fair form. Denis Coakley's Camache Queen is well bred but the yard is not known for their ability to have one ready first time out. Peter Makin's Laugh Or Cry is speedily bred and is another newcomer worthy of a mention, while Comrade Bond failed to build on a promising debut for Mark Tompkins at Yarmouth when well beaten in an admittedly better race at York last time. Preference then is for Pat Eddery's Avalon Bay, who is well bred being by Avonbridge out of a Missed Flight mare and it would be no surprise to see him make a winning start to his career.
