      Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute's PUMPKIN has looked progressive this season and is our idea of the winner on his handicap debut ahead of Bel Cantor and Mac's Power. Based on his maiden form the pick is potentially well treated here off a mark of 77 especially having beaten an animal in his penultimate start who has since placed when rated in the mid eighties. The surface looks the only element that may stop him in a race that shouldn't take much winning. Bel Cantor may decide to take up an engagement at Pontefract the day before this race but if he rocks up here he is still potentially weighted to be competitive despite a nine pound mark rise after last time out success. Mac's Power also has an increased burden to deal with after a tight course and distance success last time while Lujeanie, is the only other to make any appeal but he looks to have plenty to do stepping up in class and rising in the handicap after winning on his first try over course and distance on his most recent run. Not the easiest end to the day but Pumpkin can win on his handicap debut.
