In depth

Verdict

"Ultra-competitive" doesn't really come close to describing this handicap but Richard Hannon's WILBURY STAR looks narrowly the best treated and has the verdict just ahead of Randama Bay and course specialist Highly Regal. The selection found just the one too good off his current mark last time out and while we don't know how good that form will be yet his runners-up display in October at Bath rates as good form in context of this race and he looks ready to score. Randama Bay recorded his only career success over course and distance back in November. Since then he has shown flashes of that form but now at just two pounds above the rating he carried to victory that day he should be able to run a big race. Highly Regal has scored four times from seven starts at this venue so needs to at least be looked at despite his mark looking a little on the high side. Gold Express is rated two pounds worse off than when last scoring so likely to be in the mix and Nice To Know is yet another to sick in calculation after just missing out under this burden on his last effort. Really tricky stuff to call this but Wibury Star just looks the one to be with.
