In depth

Verdict

Isle de Maurice and and Whitford Don look to be the main players here with Isle de Maurice being the selection; Moorlands Return could prove to be best of the rest. Much as the selection's hat-trick bid came to an end last time, that third-placed effort came in a much better race than this and his overall form makes him a leading player in this contest. Formerly a fair performer for Paul Nicholls, Whitford Don caused a surprised when winning at Towcester last time and a ten-pounds rise should not stop him from running well again if in the same mood. If on a going day, Moorlands Return can go well but he was well behind Whitford Don last time, and Fabrezan holds claims based on his 2005 best form. A first-time tongue-tie could see winning Irish pointer Elbow Lane go well, while Notaproblem ran well when put over hurdles last time and might sneak a place if building on that run. Overall, though, the vote goes to Isle de Maurice.
