Black Apalachi can give weight away all round at the expense of Em's Royalty, Tynedale and Abzuson to name but three. Black Apalachi was unplaced at Aintree on Friday, but if turning out here, can gain some compensation. The Irish raider had taken on top company at both Leopardstown and Naas in February before coming over to contest the Royal & Sun Alliance Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham in which he finished a creditable eighth. With form like that to back him up, he should be well up to giving weight away all round. Em's Royalty was a beaten favourite when second in a three horse race over the course and distance last time, and had earlier looked the likely winner when a last-flight faller at Newcastle. He has scope but does not have the experience of the selection. Tynedale has the assistance of Tony Dobbin and has been quite consistent so it is not hard to visualise him gaining a place at least. Abzuson is a shade high in the handicap at present otherwise he would have been given a more favourable mention, and in any case he and the rest will struggle to contain Black Apalachi if he lines up.
