In depth

Verdict

Only the seven runners face the starter for this novices' chase and few of them can be given a serious chance in a race where it is hard to see past NAIAD DU MISSELOT, who gets a confident vote ahead of Sotovik and Harry Flashman. The last mentioned stepped up on his debut effort over fences when chasing home Bleu Pois over the extended 3m1f here last month and he has to be respected but may not be as effective dropped in trip. Sotovik was capable over hurdles and ran better over the larger obstacles behind Cash Man at Carlisle last month. He makes more appeal than Sue Bradburne's Stainley, who has seemingly lost his way over hurdles and now makes his debut over fences. Naiad du Misselot has been well held in recent starts but his last two outings have both been in tough races at Cheltenham and Ferdy Murphy's gelding is hard to oppose in this grade where he looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account over the larger obstacles.
