Another small field here, but it looks to revolve around the trio of ROTHESAY DANCER, Artsu and Mandarin Spirit. Jim Goldie's mare is the highest rated of the trio, who are well clear of the remainder. She only has to concede 3lbs to Artsu, whereas it would be twice as much in a handicap. Four of her 10 career wins have come here, most recently last summer when she had a real purple patch in handicaps, and she's more than capable of winning on what's her 100th race. She's also got an entry for a listed race at Ayr on Saturday, although that may be a step too far. Artsu hasn't won for nearly two years but in this sort of company has to be considered, along with Mandarin Spirit, a course and distance winner in September, who's raced in much better contests. Angelofthenorth looks to be the pick of two unlikely candidates from the Teague yard, while Alan Berry's Mr Rooney has dropped to a career low mark, and on official ratings would need almost a furlong start to be involved. We'll side with Rothesay Dancer to make it a happy centenary celebration.
