POWERFUL PIERRE appears to have his best chance yet of breaking his maiden tag and is taken to score, while Suzie Quw and Newbury Street are likely to present the biggest danger. The selection has made the frame on each of his last four starts, all over this trip. He looks best on fast ground, so he will have to hope that things get a bit quicker by race time to be seen to his best, but he is the most consistent of this lot, does not have a bad draw in stall five, and the yard's runners have been going better of late. He gets the nod. Suzie Quw is a threat if able to produce her best in a first-time visor, which may be a positive move from John Weymes. This is an easier task than recent handicaps she has constested and she won't mind any further ease in the ground, which would in fact enhance her claim. Newbury Street can act with some cut, but he looks best on fast ground. This is his optimum trip and a recent Carlisle claimer win means he is at least in decent form. Thewinnatakesitall has to overcome a high draw but should not mind conditions, though on balance she has a bit to find and Powerful Pierre gets the vote.
