AL SHABABIYA is taken here to follow up her win at Wolverhampton, at the expense of likely main dangers Graceful Descent and Tomintoul Star. David Simcock's filly is trying turf for the first time with her four previous runs all coming on the Polytrack. With firm ground expected here, we don't anticipate any problems with her handling the ground, and certainly the yard wouldn't bring her all the way to Scotland as their only runner on the card to see how she gets on. Tomintoul Star is more used to Southwell, where she's been placed on her three starts but she remains a maiden after 10 runs. She started with Henry Cecil, but even a change of yard has failed to bring a change of fortune. Graceful Descent has to give weight away all round, but has been a consistent sort. Until her last race, which was a big step up in grade, she'd not been out of the first two in her previous eight races. Madame Excelerate steps up in trip for her handicap debut, with this just her fourth run, and is capable of making the frame. Three of the last five winners of this have been returned at big double figure prices; we won't get that, but we'll just be happy to see Al Shababiya first past the post.
