You can make a case for just about all of these, but our marginal preference is for GOLDEN STREAM, ahead of Penny's Gift and Royal Confidence. Sir Michael Stoute won this race last year, but it's not one in which favourites have always fared well. Golden Stream, owned by The Queen, won a similarly listed race at Warwick last time out, after previously being second in the Sandringham at Ascot. Both her two career wins have come over this trip, and she's more lightly raced than most of her rivals here. She's entered for a group race in Ireland in the autumn, and has a decent low draw here. The Queen may have royal confidence in Golden Stream, but Royal Confidence has a marginally higher rating, after winning a listed race last year. A disappointing fifth in this race last year, she's got plenty of ability but hasn't been showing it this year. Penny's Gift won the German 1000 Guineas but was outclassed in the Falmouth at Newmarket subsequently. Cosmopolitan was behind her in that race, the only blip in her last four outings, with victories in three ordinary looking races. It's probably too tough a task here, unless everything falls right. It's wide open, but we think it could be a good day for Her Majesty, and we're siding with Golden Stream.
