ASSET is marginally preferred to Ordnance Row and Express Wish. This is a race that features a number of horses who have struggled to make the transition to better class and Asset is a case in point. At times, the six-year-old has looked useful. Second in the Wokingham this term and a regular winner of listed races, he was once again exposed when stepping up in grade at Deauville in the Maurice Gheest. Ordnance Row has regularly kept counsel at this grade. He had no chance in a Chester handicap but did take a Windsor listed event earlier in the season with a fair degree of comfort. Express Wish won this last year though is yet to trouble the judge this season. That said, he invariably manages to attract support in the betting ring. Cat Junior can be forgiven for needing his first run back for some time at Lingfield. Abbondanza is much improved on turf but even we are unsure as to whether a first time visor can find the extra 10lb needed to trouble the judge. Carcinetto won well at Chester on her latest start and could well nick fourth place prize money here. Good prize money for what is essentially a cheap Group 3 contest and Asset gets the tentative nod.
