Richard Hannon took this last year so Cultured Pride and Fleeting Echo are respected but our vote instead goes to WATER GIPSY; Pictures and Universal Circus are also to be considered. Gary Moore's charge won impressively over course and distance last time and in the aftermath of the contest her trainer spoke highly of her. That day she readily despatched an 80-rated horse and if that one ran to form then an opening mark of 84 would appear generous; we see no reason to question the form and the fact that she's shown that Goodwood's test holds no fears strengthens the case further, whilst ground conditions are also set to suit so she's a confident pick. Cultured Pride's best two efforts have come here at Goodwood, including her sole success, and this trip of seven furlongs may prove more to her liking than the mile she tackled last time. That said she was disappointing at Newmarket and Pat Dobbs prefers Fleeting Echo who may prove more of a threat. The daughter of Beat Hollow tried seven furlongs for the first time at Haydock and seemed to get it fine so despite the fact her wins have been over sprinting trips we aren't questioning her stamina; perhaps though she wouldn't want any firm in the description as on her one try on quick ground she disappointed at Salisbury. Pictures is a maiden after five starts but ran well enough on her return at Yarmouth to suggest this mark may allow her to win races; she may be best forgiven a poor effort on the Polytrack at Lingfield last time and her second to Alice Alleyne last Autumn reads very well. Universal Circus scraped home last time but consequently hasn't been harshly punished and again some of her placed form reads very well; she's far from ruled out in a wide open race but Water Gipsy impressed here last time and looks worth giving the chance to follow up.
