An irrefutably competitive maiden and whilst the betting will provide some clues, one should approach this race with caution. Of those to have raced, Lush, Badalona and Baraari catch the eye, whilst there are also plenty of well-bred newcomers. However Lush sets the standard and Richard Hannon's filly is fancied to win at the third time of asking. Having failed to get home on soft ground last time out, the selection should appreciate today's more stable underfoot conditions and continue her trainer's good recent form. She stayed on well over six furlongs here on her debut having been slowly away and this 60,000 euros daughter of Fasliyev gets out vote. Baraari and Top Vision both shaped very nicely on their debuts in a Newmarket maiden and the former represents a stable who's runners often come on a lot for their first outings. Badalona was second on her debut at HQ and shaped with plenty of promise, as did Lady Zabeen who now steps up a furlong in trip. Now to the newcomers: Amhooj (would want the ground to dry up on breeding), Armure (representing a stable who can ready a newcomer) and Zerky (a $300,000 Kingmambo filly) all go on the shortlist along with fellow newcomers Park Royal and Lemon N Sugar, however Lush is fancied to score.
