Sir Michael Stoute's Daniel Defoe is surely better than he showed on his debut at Yarmouth in October 2008 but he has not been seen since then and stable companion SAPTAPADI seems the one to beat with the main danger looking to be Dancing Dude. Mark Johnston's colt improved from his debut outing when chasing home Goodlukin Lucy at Musselburgh earlier this month and he has solid claims on that evidence. Clive Brittain's Najam was well held first time up at Lingfield last month and is likely to struggle, while Sir Mark ran better at Redcar last time but is becoming expensive to follow. Not many of these can be given a serious chance and it is hard to oppose Sir Michael Stoute's Saptapadi, who was highly tried last season but ran well in Group 3 contests at Sandown and Chester and he looks to have been found a winning opportunity in this company.
