Verdict

Richard Fahey can do little wrong with his runners of late and Red Jade won with plenty in hand when successful over course and distance last month but the going is very different today and he may not be as effective on the good ground so a better bet looks to be the reappearing THE FONZ, who gets the verdict ahead of Thunderstruck. Jeremy Glover has his string in better form now so the son of Bertolini, who has found one too good in each of his last two starts, may go even better today despite having been raised 2lbs since his most recent start. Brian Meehan's Dangerous Midge was good value for his win here when last seen in a classified stakes race in September but he has more to do in a handicap today, while Tim Easterby's Rosbay has more to do at the weights than when successful over course and distance last month. Mick Easterby's Desert Vision has been running well on the Polytrack of late and could be of interest back on turf but a better bet looks to be The Fonz. Sir Michael Stoute's gelding is relatively lightly raced after just five starts and, with more improvement to come, he looks worth chancing on his reappearance.
