Chatham House has been racing over further since his debut and has been showing enough pace to suggest dropping back in trip is the correct option. City Tour stayed on strongly over 7f on heavy going at Ayr so it was logical to send him over a mile next time but he again encountered heavy conditions at Haydock and floundered. If he copes with today's conditions he should be thereabouts while both of Defence Treaty's runs have been on soft going. Edgewood has been staying on over 7f in both starts and is the type to improve again while Scale Force was sent to Deauville after a fair debut at Yarmouth and led for a long way. THE NIGHT WATCH is by Dutch Art out of a Group 3-winning sprinter and wouldn't need to be a world beater to take a hand so gets a speculative vote.
