Verdict
Wigmore Hall is worth chancing again but he might be better in a bigger field so preference here is for AFSARE who should handle this step up in grade; Simenon looks the best of the rest. Luca Cumani has his horses in good form and this Dubawi colt was well on top at the line when beating Battle Honour at Newmarket. This is a step up in grade but with the longer trip in his favour (dam a ten furlong winner from a French Oaks family) he should acquit himself well. Dubai Miracle has been highly-tried since his maiden win at Lingfield but he has really shown very little since to suggest that he is up to this grade, so a bigger threat should be Eavesdropper who was outclassed at Goodwood but this more straight-forward course may suit him better and he is not discounted. Simenon is one of the higher rated in the race and he fared well in fourth ahead of Eavesdropper and he is not ignored although a drop of rain wouldn't go amiss. Completing the field is Wigmore Hall who was backed off the boards at Newmarket last time but could only manage second behind the Andrew Balding-trained Gardening Leave. So far his best runs have come in fields of 12 or more and in this line-up he is (reluctantly) taken on. The vote goes to Afsare.
