A race for proven stayers and at least three of the seven runners come into that category, having won over the trip. One of them is Mysterium, who has gone in twice this season over two miles or more, though it has to be said, in lesser company and though is a thorough stayer he could be tested by anything with a turn of foot. One of those could be top weight Balladeer, though there are doubts about his stamina over this sort of trip on what we have seen so far. Dropped 6lbs recently and back in the sort of company he will appreciate, John Hills' gelding shouldn't be too far away. High Policy is one of the other pair to have a distance win to his name and he will get every yard. However, he does look to be exposed at the moment and should put up his usual consistent effort without perhaps getting his nose in front. Bold Ewar's best form has come over much shorter trips than this, and despite a win over a-mile-and-three-quarters last time at Wolverhampton, it would be a surprise if he were good enough to succeed here.
