In depth

Verdict

As with a lot of classified stakes races this looks to be fairly competitive, with several of the eight runners holding claims on official BHB rating. Yarmouth maiden winner Team-Mate has struggled since that success at the beginning of July and may do so again here as he has to give weight away all round. Paragon Of Virtue, who has yet to live up to his breeding, tackles a new trip today that is not certain to suit being by sprinter Cadeaux Genereux. There should be no problems on that score for Star Member, who steps up to 1m4f having won his maiden over two furlongs shorter. The Alan Jarvis-trained son of Hernando is less exposed than most and has to be respected but the TEAMtalk vote goes to another three-year-old, namely Sloe Gin. John Dunlop's filly has yet to win a race but claim close to doing so at Bath last month, when showing a liking for middle distances. Open to further improvement and in receipt of all the allowances she gets the nod.
