Cerulean Rose gets the vote over Mynd, Stamford Blue and Meikle Barfil, with Diamond Katie not entirely out of things. In truth this is an open-looking finale, but Tony Carroll is enjoying a profitable spell at present so we shall take Cerulean Rose to register another course-and-distance victory. The seven-year-old was successful here three years ago, and went on to score three more times that year, on each occasion ridden by Francis Norton. The Liverpudlian then sat on her for the first time since at Sandown a fortnight ago, and surprise surprise in she popped again. They are obviously made for each other, and despite a small rise in the weights, the mare can continue to make up for lost time. Mynd won a claimer over the track-and-trip back in May and has not been out since, while Stamford Blue beat the selection here when they met three months ago, but is now 9lb worse off. Diamond Katie will like the drop back in trip but not the ground, a comment that also applies to Carcinetto. Cerulean Rose is the pick.
