    Verdict

Tiber Tiger is a tentative choice, with Veiled Applause, Tuscarora and Sincerely just a few more with claims. With so much win and placed form on show, it is difficult to be too optimistic, but Tiber Tiger has shown signs of a revival of late, earning places here and at Carlisle in recent weeks. His close second on this course was in a ladies race, but he stuck to his task well when headed that day and remains well handicapped on form of old, so may be worth chancing here with James Doyle taking a further 3lb off his back. Veiled Applause returned to form over the course-and-distance 10 days ago and shoulders a 6lb penalty but is on the short-list along with Tuscarora who bounced back with a narrow success at Bath last time. That was on much faster ground, but she too handles cut and hails from an in-form stable. Further down the weights, the likes of Pleasing, Christmas Truce, Unlimited and Lockstock have all shown enough to suggest that they can get involved, but the pin comes down on Tiber Tiger.
