Mark Johnston's Robby Bobby is best in at the weights judged by official BHA ratings but he has not been running well of late and looks best passed over. Elaine Burke's Bold Marc would be hard to beat if this was over a mile but he is unproven over this far and a better bet looks to be ODDSMAKER. The Maurice Barnes-trained gelding has conditions to suit, has been running well in recent starts in handicaps and looks worth chancing off what seems a favourable weight. Geoff Harker's Eijaaz would probably want faster ground, while Richard Fahey's Chocolate Caramel is capable but inconsistent. Lucayan Dancer is another worthy of consideration in a competitive opener.
