John Quinn's Captain Macarry ran well two outings ago but again disappointed last time and looks best left out calculations with a more likely winner looking to be Tim Easterby's Ryedane, who has shown a consistent level of form but has yet to prove that he stays this far. Norville is capable but inconsistent and a safer option looks to be ISLAND CHIEF, who gets the vote. Mick Easterby's gelding won well at Ayr and Thirsk in August and has not seemingly been suited by the step up in trip since then so looks worth backing now returned to a more suitable trip. Not My Choice has another 6lb rise to overcome if he is to complete a hat-trick and of more interest may be Geoff Harker's Nuit Sombre, who has been running consistently well in recent outings.
