Cape Gold, Sapphire Storm and Moraadi catch the eye in this wide open claimer and Cape Gold can lead them home. Sapphire Storm is still a maiden in 20 starts but did show a glimmer of form in a seller at Carlisle last time, finishing a close fourth. That was an improved effort, but it is a sign of the weakness of this contest that she makes the shortlist. At least David Chapman's Moraadi hasnt been a maiden for so long, and although she hasnt hit the frame in 10 starts, her fourth in a small banded affair at Southwell hinted at better to come. Who knows, having sampled the Southwell sand for her last seven starts, she may inspired by the sight and feel of the Catterick turf. After finishing last at Doncaster and Musselburgh, Cape Gold did only marginally better at Thirsk last time. However, that was a handicap, and at the weights he appears to have something in hand. Provided he hasnt got to used to being at the rear of the field, Cape Gold gets the most tentative of votes in a woeful affair.
