Verdict

A tight betting heat despite the low turn out and La Dolfina is just preferred ahead of Cyclonic Storm and Phoebe Buffay. Hughie Morrison's charge appreciated a change of tactics when, kept closer to the pace than usual, the daughter of Pennekamp opened her account in a Brighton handicap over this trip last time. A subsequent rise of 5lb doesn't appear excessive and this lightly raced type looks capable of further progress so she should prove capable of following up under a useful apprentice. Cyclonic Storm also comes in to this in winning form after a recent course and distance success. Richard Fahey's charge is a tough and consistent performer but has to shoulder a hefty weight burden and may prove vulnerable to a less exposed rival. Phoebe Buffay ran well for today's rider in a Kempton apprentice event last time and can't be discounted off a low weight but Big Bertha has been well below her best this term so La Dolfina looks the one to side with in a tricky affair.
