In depth

Verdict

Paul Howling's Pipers Piping came good when landing a six furlong handicap here last time but a 6lb rise for that success and the extra furlong may prevent him from following up and preference is for HELLBENDER, who can gain a well deserved success. Sylvester Kirk's gelding has found one too good in each of his last three starts, the first two of which were on the Polytrack but the latest on turf on ground softer than ideal, and he has solid claims racing off the same mark today. Crystallize has slipped to a fair mark but is hard to recommend on recent form, while Gee Major has more to do at the weights than when successful here in July and last month.
