In depth

Verdict

Gunner Fly, Five Wishes and Josephine Malines are the three for the shortlist in this competitive opener and the vote is given to Gunner Fly. The selection has not been seen out since December when he ran a sound race in defeat at Southwell. He is eased in grade here and providing he is fit enough to do himself justice then he should take plenty of beating. Five Wishes has the ability to win this but she has been a frustrating type to follow and she has yet to win a race in 14 attempts. Josephine Malines was well beaten last time and she may find this trip a little on the sharp side for her. Scotty's Future won this race last year but she has gone 12 months now without getting her head in front so she is hard to recommend with confidence. We are therefore happy to stick with Gunner Fly to lead them home.
