BERE DAVIS has started the season with a couple of placings, and is selected here ahead of Nevada Desert and Moheebb. Although David Evans' gelding has yet to build on his debut success, he's usually involved at the vanguard and looks to have this sort of race within him, albeit he's been costly to follow. Gaining weight all round will be a big help here, given the testing run in. Nevada Desert usually needs a run or two to get going, and this is his first outing since October, but he's got course and distance winning form behind him. Moheebb was fourth in the corresponding race last year, but may want it a little softer. He's had the benefit of a recent run, which could prove decisive. Kevin Ryan does well here, but it would be a surprise if Wigwam Willie got involved. Willie Jarvis' only runner on the card Admiral Dundas has got the ability to win at this level, but hasn't really kicked on following a couple of wins last summer. It's a tricky little affair this, but our support goes with Bere Davis.
