Verdict

The market may give us more clues to this opener, with half the field having only their second run and three of them making their debut, but we'll take a chance with THE HERMITAGE, being preferred to Petrocelli and More For Less. Mark Johnston's got a good strike rate in this kind of contest, and it seems a lowly kind of start for a filly that cost 85,000 guineas in October. She does have some fancy entries for later in the year though. Petrocelli finished well on debut last month at Leicester and is entitled to come on for that run, after initially looking a little green. David Barron's string are in fine form, and More For Less should improve following a recent Catterick debut. Richard Fahey's one from seven this year with his two year olds, but won the corresponding race last year, although his entry Maidtorun has a poor draw in stall one. Those drawn highest can have an advantage over the minimum trip here, but we'll side with one from the middle, and that's The Hermitage.
