With his confidence boosted by a ready success at Nottingham VHUJON can go in again ahead of Comptonspirit, Desperate Dan and Whiskey Junction. David Evans' charge can look very good on his day and did so when readily obliging last time. That was in an admittedly poor race but he's still very well treated under a penalty and should get a strong pace to chase here, so it'll be disappointing if Richard Evans can't guide this gelding home in front. Comptonspirit arrives in rude health too following a game success over slightly further at Warwick. This slight drop in trip isn't a problem for the mare as three of her four wins have come over five furlongs and she seems at her best when the ground is fast; up just 3lbs, she's not handicapped out of winning. Desperate Dan has his own ideas about the game but, like Vhujon, should get the strong pace he craves and has a solid record at the track. He's now down to the same mark that saw him score at Wolverhampton in March - the horse's win at Redcar was in a seller - but it has to be said he's probably a couple of pounds better on artificial surfaces. Night Affair's sole success came over course and distance and she's only 3lbs higher so this unexposed type might be worth another chance to take a place, however Whiskey Junction makes marginally more appeal as he's better than able to show last time and is undeniably well treated on the pick of his form, some of which has come here at Bath. This has the look of a tight sprint handicap but Vhujon has the ability to defy this mark with something to spare when on song and is taken to do just that.
