A tough one to call, but Sangiovese is in good heart and is selected in preference to Mikao and Double Vodka, who are fancied to provide the sternest challenges from the rest. Bessemer has bits and pieces of form to his name that give him claims at this level. However, he does need to improve greatly on his reappearance effort and others may have his measure today. Double Vodka is readily preferred over his stablemate Red Birr and also has to be considered. He is a versatile sort regarding his best ground and he is one to consider if the market vibes are right. Mikao shaped up well on his reappearance and is expected to make a fist of it today. However, Sangiovese comes here on the back of a string of solid efforts and, with his yard in good form, it is his battling qualities that are expected to see him home today.
