A poor contest that will take little winning and Ambushed appeals as the likeliest winner while Lennel and Only For Gold are the only serious threats. Peter Monteith's dual purpose performer has been in good heart of late, landing a fair handicap hurdle event at Perth last month and also boasts some fair efforts on the Flat in the context of this race. Well treated by the race conditions, the son of Indian Ridge should prove too good at this level while the booking of Kieren Fallon lends further confidence. Lennel is on a long losing sequence and has looked very much on the downgrade in recent times. There was little to enthuse over his latest effort when tailed off at Haydock and he is readily opposed on ground which is plenty quick enough. Only For Gold is another who appears a shadow of his former self and faces a stiffish task with Ambushed on these terms judged on recent evidence.
