BOTHAM has the best recent form, and is taken to win another apprentice handicap, being preferred to Time To Regret and Rain Stops Play. Jim Goldie's in fine form, and his gelding was runner up in a similar race at Hamilton last time out when dropped down to six furlongs, after previously winning another one over a mile. He's no world beater, but this isn't a great race and may not take much winning. Rain Stops Play is nought from 29 since winning nearly three years ago, but it's a sign of how poor a race it is that he should make the shortlist. Time To Regret has left punters with plenty of that over the years; fourth when Botham won recently, he's got a better strike rate on the all-weather or when there's some cut in the ground. It's one of those races with more negatives than positives about the runners, but the pick of this poor bunch looks to be Botham.
