Simon Dow's Sumani is relatively lightly raced and comes here on the back of a win on Lingfield's Polytrack recently so he has to be respected but a 6lb rise for that success makes this tougher back on turf and a better bet may be THE HAGUE, who gets the vote ahead of Sullenberger. Jamie Osborne's gelding is less exposed than most of his rivals after just three starts and it is to be hoped that he runs better than on his handicap debut at Windsor last time. At the bottom of the handicap, Jachol represents the in-form stable of William Haggas and he has to be considered off his light weight having run well in a handicap at Salisbury recently. John Dunlop's Mejala ran better than her finishing position suggests at Salisbury last month and she cannot be ruled out on only her fifth start, while Artesium would have claims if able to stay this far. Marginal preference in a competitive opener is for The Hague. John Gosden's colt was ultimately disappointing at Chepstow last month but he should appreciate the longer trip today and looks worth chancing at the likely odds.
