Lake Chini comes into this in good form having won his last two starts, both on testing ground, but Mick Easterby's gelding may struggle to win again under his penalty so he looks best left out of calculations and preference is for WITCHRY, who gets the verdict with Jadan rated the pick of the remainder. The selection is ideally suited by cut in the ground and confirmed that belief again when running out the good winner of a handicap at Bath earlier this month, a success that he is taken to follow up here under his penalty. Grimes Faith has yet to confirm that he is fully effective on soft ground and a bigger threat may come from Killer Class, who was good value for his win here last month but is now 5lbs higher. Alan Berry's Wicked Wilma beat a big field when successful at Beverley and has to be respected but the opposition here is tougher so he may have to settle for minor honours off his new mark and of more interest may be Jadan, who is better than he showed at Hamilton last time. There was plenty to like about the success of Witchry at Bath last time, though, and he is taken to follow up that win.
