The top three in the weights, Highland Warrior, Harrison's Flyer and Mecca's Mate, all have to defy career high marks to land this and preference is for Jadan, who gets the vote ahead of Four Amigos. The last mentioned is trained by David Nicholls who has his string of sprinters in particularly good form at present and, with ground conditions to suit, the four-year-old has to be respected. The Leather Wedge struggled off his new mark at Ripon last time and is not as effective on a softer surface, while Mister Marmaduke is hard to recommend on recent evidence. The vote then goes to Eric Alston's Jadan, who is well treated on the pick of his form and is well suited by the prevailing conditions underfoot.
