Stoic Leader has been in a rich vein of form of late but a combination of a higher mark and softer surface is of concern and a safer bet may be Go Padero, who is preferred to stablemate Generous Option. The last mentioned looked one to keep on the right side of when successful at Musselburgh over this trip in April but has twice disappointed since then over six furlongs and a mile. The return to today's trip may help the daughter of Cadeaux Genereux, who should have little difficulty with the cut in the ground. Acomb was good value for his win at Thirsk on Monday but his looks tougher under his penalty, while Namroud is 5lbs higher than when narrowly beating Locombe Hill (a winner on the all-weather in weaker company since) over course and distance last month. Another last time out winner Ballyhurry cannot be discounted under conditions that should suit but the vote goes to Go Padero. Mark Johnston's gelding showed progressive form as a three-year-old last term, from limited opportunities and, with the stable's horses coming into form now, lack of a recent run should not be of concern for the son of Night Shift.
