In depth

Verdict

Windsor Knot, who was bought out of John Gosden's stable after the last of his two successes as a juvenile makes his belated debut for Godolphin over a trip that should stretch his stamina but he may still be good enough to beat some exposed rivals with the main dangers looking likely to come from Fruhlingssturm and Real Quality. The last mentioned looked useful when making a winning return at Doncaster earlier in the season but has three times disappointed since then and is probably best watched now. Neither Lucky Largo nor Howards Dream have any realistic chance of finishing any better than fourth and a more obvious danger is the Michael Jarvis-trained Fruhlingssturm, who ran up to his best in a Listed race at Windsor last time. However, Windsor Knot looks different class to these and looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account for the season, provided that he stays well enough.
