Verdict

Tsaroxy can improve enough to land the nursery, with Zomerlust, Propellor and Catwalk Cleric seen as the main dangers. Howard Johnston will be looking forward to the winter more than most with a stable full of decent jumpers, but in the meantime he will not be letting up in his search for a few Flat winners, and in Tsaroxy has a youngster of potential. Owned by Graham Wylie, the son of Xaar was favourite to make a winning debut at Newcastle in June but finished third, then had the misfortune to run into the 2,000 Guineas favourite Shamardal here next time. It was no surprise then when he duly opened his account at Redcar despite still looking green, and as he has already shown that he an go on soft ground, he looks all set to make a bold bid on his nursery bow. Zomerlust won in soft ground at Ripon in August and more recently was a good fourth at Newmarket. He looks sure to run well and makes slightly more appeal than Propellor who was being aimed at a valuable nursery at Hamilton last month but never made it there. He is another that will not mind the ground though, while of the rest Catwalk Cleric is worth a mention but he does have to concede weight all round. Any money for Selkirk Storm would be interesting as well, but Tsaroxy may prove to be a class above his opponents and should be followed.
