By The Edge gets the vote over Jadan, She's Our Beauty, and Valiant Romeo. There is a large turnout for the opener, but many line up with a string of duck eggs next to their name, and so hopefully the winner will come from our short-list, headed by By The Edge. David Barron's charge is still a maiden, but has been placed on a number of occasions this term, and has shown that she can handle cut in the ground. She appears to be reasonably handicapped still, and is taken to open her account. Jadan has also improved of late, and ran another sound race in first-time blinkers at Musselburgh just four days ago. He too resides on a decent mark at present. She's Our Beauty won a claimer for current connections at Catterick on her last start in July, but need not improve too much to take a hand, while Valiant Romeo ran his best race of the season when runner-up at Beverley, but the feeling is that he would really prefer softer ground. Unless the market suggests otherwise, we are happy to side with By The Edge as the answer.
