Young Mick has been one of the success stories of the season and is taken to continue his progression under a 3lb penalty for his recent course and distance success and score at the main expense of Chantaco and Pevensey. The last mentioned has been running consistently well of late and should appreciate the return to this trip having found 1m2f too sharp for him at Leicester last time. Nero's Return is strictly held by Pevensey on Leicester running while the John Hills-trained Wingman has the ability to play a part in the finish but is proving to be expensive to follow. Nawamees is another on a long losing sequence, while Isidore Bonheur comes from a stable in form but he has yet to prove himself over this far. The trip is not a problem for Young Mick though who has progressed from banded racing to be one of the leading handicappers of the year and he is taken to win again.
Young Mick 10-1 (9-5) Tracked leaders, ridden to lead over 1f out, soon edged right, driven out, won at Ascot 1m 4f hcp 0-105 (2) gd in Jul beating Royal Jet (8-11) by 1 1/2l, 11 ran.
