Verdict
Mersey Sound failed to stay 2m5f at Goodwood last time and may be worth another chance back in distance to two miles today so gets the vote ahead of Sir Monty and Escayola. The last mentioned is better than he has shown previously this term but it is hard to make a case out for the Willie Haggas-trained gelding on recent form. Almah finished in front of the selection at Goodwood but may not be as effective over this trip. Takafu has been running consistently well but has yet to prove himself over this trip, while Nessen Dorma has failed to stay this far in two previous starts over this trip. Sir Monty is another that finished ahead of Mersey Sound at Goodwood and he looks to be the main threat judged by that and earlier efforts but David Elsworth's gelding is the clear form pick over this distance and he gets the vote.
