Tahreeb sets the standard for this after his creditable third behind Byron in Newbury's Mill Reef Stakes but the son of Indian Ridge would probably prefer a softer surface and preference is for Cartography, who gets the verdict over Needles And Pins. The last mentioned is a speedy individual trained by Michael Bell, who has solid claims on the strength of her success over Nyramba in the St Hugh's Stakes. Not disgraced when runner-up in a Group 3 race in France last time, she warrants respect but we prefer to side with Cartography. Michael Jarvis has a strong team of juveniles this term and the son of Zafonic looked to among the best of them when running away with a novice stakes race at Beverley last month. This represents a step up in class but he looks ready for it and gets the vote. The William Haggas-trained Majestic Missile and the unbeaten Richard Hannon filly Vermilliann are others to consider but we are happy to side with Cartography.
