Verdict

SHARPENED EDGE can atone for throwing the race away at Sandown by getting the better of Celestial Dream and Ivory Silk. Bryn Palling's filly would surely have won a minute at Sandown but for hanging violently across the course throughout the final furlong. She lines up here from a 1lb higher mark and is reunited with Cathy Gannon, who was on board for her success. Celestial Dream has a similar profile and may be better suited by the surface here than the firm ground that she encountered at Bath; she had looked progressive prior to that. Ivory Silk has proved to be a reliable performer for his new connections and he has to be on the short-list with the yard going so well whilst he's also entitled to improve a little for his run at Salisbury. Zowington showed his rivals a clean pair of heels at Folkestone but was flattered by the margin of his success and a bigger danger could prove to be Mandurah who stayed on well to win at Haydock but none of them appeal as being as progressive as Sharpened Edge.
