A tough race to call but STEEL STOCKHOLDER looks well-handicapped and is preferred to William Morgan, Step In Time, Nufoudh and Malcheek. Mel Brittain's colt races off a mark of 68 today which is only 2lbs higher than his last victory at Wolverhampton. It took him an age to break his duck but he's now won two of his last six and although he's littered his recent efforts with poor runs, the feeling is that a race at the Knavesmire has been the target for a while. Bawaardi needs a market check on this return to action as he looked progressive at three, Malcheek has been going the right way of late and needs a market check, as does the hold-up performer Imperial Djay. Smarty Socks and last-year's winner Zomerlust both run this track well, Nufoudh is in great nick but continues to edge up the handicap, whilst Step In Time took advantage of a falling mark at Musselburgh last time but with his confidence once again boosted he is not discounted back up in the weights. William Morgan has disappointed on his last two starts however he is better than that and remains of interest along with the well-handicapped Spiritofthewest. The market may help guide in this very competitive finale however without that information we will happily side with Steel Stockholder.
