    Verdict

Ocean Bay is the one to beat but he may be worth taking on with FLODDEN although support for newcomers Farhh and Handel's Messiah would clearly be of interest. John Ryan enjoyed notable success with his juveniles last season but he has yet to saddle a two year old winner this term. Ocean Bay stepped up on his debut run to finish a close fifth of six in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket last time and that run makes him the one to beat and he could be sent off at a short price as a result. Support for any of the newcomers would clearly be of interest and the market may be the best guide to their chances but it could be worth taking a chance with Flodden whose debut was not without promise. It came in a traditionally warm maiden at the July meeting where the market offered little encouragement. He missed the break and was slowly into stride but the 170,000 dollar yearling purchase made good late headway and should be all the better for that experience.
