Sergeant Cecil has failed to get his head in front this term but looks to have been found the ideal opportunity to open his account for the campaign here and Rod Millman's stable star gets the vote to do just that ahead of Tungsten Strike and Cover Up. The last mentioned holds his form well but Sir Michael Stoute's gelding has disappointed the three times that he has been ridden by Ryan Moore and he may be best watched. Dual Royal Ascot winner Baddam was found wanting in the Goodwood Cup last time and may want a faster surface anyway. Golden Quest, by comparison, may have found the ground too quick at Goodwood and may do better here on this surface, while Franklins Gardens makes his first appearance since running in the Melbourne Cup in November and is entitled to need the run. High Action and The Whistling Teal are others worthy of a mention although a bigger threat is likely to come from Tungsten Strike. Amanda Perrett's gelding ran best of these in the Goodwood Cup and has to be respected on that evidence but he has to give weight away all round and may not be up to the task of giving 3lbs to Sergeant Cecil, who has his optimum conditions and is taken to make the most of the drop in class today.
