Silver Island gets a tentative vote over the likes of Pinkerton Mill, Veverka and So Cloudy in a trappy opener. Quite a few of these have been placed of late, and it is not an easy task sifting one out as most have equal claims. So, it is with no great confidence that Silver Island is selected. Kevin Bishop's five-year-old was successful over five furlongs on the all-weather, but has proved that he can stay a trip in four outings over timber, the latest of which was round here 10 days ago when he played second fiddle to Positano. That was a selling contest, and the latter has since run fairly well over fences, so it is hard to say whether that form is good enough, but at least he has scope for improvement and has the assistance of a top conditional in Tom O'Brien. Any rain that falls will suit Pinkerton Mill who likes to get his toe in, but he has not been seen since May and will be better for the race, while Veverka won a seller here the time before last but has more to do off her weight. So Cloudy looks a shade high in the weights as well, and in a race of ifs and buts, it is Silver Island that we look to as the answer.
