Verdict

GHAIYYATH is difficult to oppose on the strength of this year’s form having won the Coronation Cup at Newmarket before beating Enable in the Eclipse at Sandown. The Godolphin charge also beat last year’s winner Japan at Sandown and Aidan O’Brien is represented by Magical this time, who has been at the top of her game in Ireland so far this year landing a Group 1 double at the Curragh. The latter won’t mind any rain and neither will Lord North, who recorded his first Group 1 success at Ascot in June when giving the impression there is more to come. The 2000 Guineas winner Kameko had excuses in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last time and an earlier fourth in the Derby suggested today’s trip would not be problem but Rose Of Kildare looks up against it on these terms though is guaranteed prize money.
