Outsiders have won the last two though the previous half-dozen winners were well supported. Lieutenant General had run up against some smart performers before getting off the mark in a Leopardstown maiden. It's difficult to know what he beat but did it nicely enough and can make further progress. Adventurous made all for an easy victory in a Nottingham maiden before finding the company too hot in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and this should be more his level. This race was put forward as the target for RECORDER after an impressive victory in a Newmarket maiden last month. The second and third finished 1-2 in a similar contest next time so William Haggas' son of Galileo can make enough improvement to take this. Cymric looked like winning easily at Sandown before scrambling to hold on though he may have gone to the front too soon while Mohab really caught the eye on his debut here last month before easily landing the odds at Catterick.
